Salvation Army red kettles pop up in Koreatown for holiday season
The iconic Salvation Army red kettles are back in Koreatown for the holiday season.
The Salvation Army Los Angeles Korean Church started collecting donations to help the needy in Koreatown last Friday.
It will continue its efforts in the region until Christmas Eve in seven locations including Ralph’s, Hannam Chain, H Mart, Korea Market and Kim’s Home Center.
Son Young-don, a missionary who has volunteered with the Salvation Army for three years, said she’s thankful that many people are donating.
She said funds would go toward the local community, including culture classes for the elderly, electric bills for the needy and school supplies for low-income families.
Staffed by 20 church members and non-church-affiliated volunteers in the area, the Salvation Army kettles will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
