San Jose is the richest city in America.
According to Bloomberg data based on reports from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, the ranking was based on gross metropolitan product (GMP) per capita from last year.
GMP accounts for each resident’s economic output. San Jose’s figure was $105,482, which Bloomberg noted was twice the national average.
Bridgeport, Connecticut, ranked second with $94,349, followed by San Francisco ($80,643), Seattle ($75,874) and Boston ($74,746).
Washington, D.C., came in at No. 7 with $72,191; New York at No. 8 with $70,830; and Los Angeles at No. 17 with $60,148.
