Seoul to host International Fireworks Festival on Oct. 4
South Korea will host its annual Seoul International Fireworks Festival on Oct. 4.
Over one million visitors attended the event last year according to a public statement made by Kim Hae-jee, a festival representative. It has traditionally been held in Yeouido, Seoul’s primary banking and investment district.
This year, France, Japan and Canada will be joining South Korea. Each visiting country will have a 15 minute showcase with the host country providing a finale clocking in at 30 minutes.
Hanwha, the event’s corporate sponsor, self-reportedly spent 3.5 billion won ($3.3 million) on the festival last year. As a fireworks manufacturer, it was able to put 100,000 fireworks on display.
The primary viewing area will be along in Yeouido’s Hangang Park, which is situated on the banks of the Han River.
