SF charity association gives love to homeless in time for V-Day
By the Korea Times San Francisco staff
San Francisco’s Korean American community pulled together to provide a warm meal to the homeless in time for Valentine’s Day Monday.
Northern California JABI Charity Association volunteers visited nine homeless shelters around the Bay Area and surrounding regions, including Cityteam locations, to hand out about 1,400 underwear, sock and toothbrush sets.
Association President Yoon Seo-young said the event came from a desire to help the less unfortunate around a time of the year when love is celebrated.
Toothbrush sets were provided by the Kim Jin-deok-Jung Kyung-sik Foundation.
One of the recipients of the sets, Jacob, said he takes care of his meals at Cityteam but that it’s difficult to find necessary everyday items. He thanked the association.
“Seeing the homeless happy and thanking us after receiving the sets made us happy as well,” said Kim Young-ja, honorary president of the association.
