SF K-pop contest to send winners to Korea
By The Korea Times San Francisco staff
The San Francisco preliminaries of K-Pop World Festival 2015 will unfold inside Music Concourse in Golden Gate park Saturday.
The annual event is hosted by the Korea-US Cultural Exchange Foundation and the San Francisco Korean Consulate General.
Ten teams out of 31 that submitted video auditions were chosen to participate in the contest. Winners will head to Changwon, South Korea, to compete for the top prize come October.
Jang Yong-hee, head of the foundation, said booths will be installed to provide a glimpse of Korean culture.
The festival, titled “Connect2Korea Interactive Festival: K-POP and Beyond,” will comprise three parts: a taekwondo demonstration, a performance by Members of Connect2Korea, and the World Festival contest.
The World Festival is held by Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, KBS and the city of Changwon and gathers winners from regional contests around the globe.
