‘Simple Song #3′ sung by Korean soprano Sumi Jo gets Oscar nomination

“Simple Song #3,” sung by South Korean soprano Sumi Jo in the film “Youth” has been nominated for best original song for the Academy Awards.
The song, written by concert composer David Lang, who also scored the film, was also nominated for the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards last week. This is the first Academy Award nomination for Lang.
Jo also plays herself in the movie.
Other nominees for the award are “Earned It,” sung by The Weeknd for “50 Shades Of Grey”; “Manta Ray,” sung by J. Ralph & Sia for “Racing Extinction”; “Til It Happens To You,” sung by Lady Gaga for “The Hunting Ground”; and “Writing’s On The Wall’” sung by Sam Smith for “Spectre.”
“Writing’s On The Wall” won the Golden Globe.
