Son Heung-min strikes again
Scores consecutive winning goals to lead Leverkusen to Champions League group stage
Son Heung-min scored just two minutes into the game as Bayer Leverkusen routed FC Copenhagen 4-0 at home in Germany. With a 7-2 aggregate win on Wednesday, the Bundesliga side advanced to the UEFA Champions League group stage.
The game was decided early as Son deflected an opposing defender’s pass to create a give-and-go situation with Stefan Kiesling. Son took Kiesling’s pass from the left side of the box and made a left footed shot to immediately put his team on top.
Son failed to score in eight Champions League games last year, but in his second go-around, he has scored the winning goal in the first two games against the Danish champions.
In other actions, Arsenal reached the Champions League group stage for the 17th consecutive season by outlasting Besiktas, and Malmo became Sweden’s first group stage representative in 14 years after beating Salzburg 3-0 to advance 4-2.
