The Korean Heritage Scholarship Foundation to give $45,000 to 30 college students

The Korean Heritage Scholarship Foundation will give $45,000 in scholarships to 30 college students.

Applications for the scholarship are due April 29 and are open to both college students or high school students who have been accepted into college.

The foundation said the fund was originally set up to provide for the children of the April 29 riot victims in Los Angeles. At the time, the South Korean government provided about $1.2 million.

“The purpose of this foundation is to award scholarships to needy students who demonstrate good scholastic ability, good character, and a willingness to make contributions to their communities and to society as a whole,” the foundation website reads.

Foundation President Edward Koo said the foundation has so far awarded $905,500 to 818 students.
