BRISBANE (Yonhap) — South Korea defeated Australia 1-0 to claim the top seed in Group A at the AFC Asian Cup here on Saturday.
Forward Lee Jeong-hyeop, in his first international start, scored the winner in the 32nd minute with a deft redirection of a pass by Lee Keun-ho deep in the Australia’s side.
It was South Korea’s third straight 1-0 victory at the continent’s top tournament.
Uli Stielike’s squad has not allowed a goal in four straight games.
