Tickets for S. Korea’s Oct. football friendlies sold out on 1st day of sales
SEOUL, Oct. 1 (Yonhap) — Tickets for South Korea’s friendly football matches this month have sold out on the first day of sales, the national football governing body said Monday.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) said 64,174 tickets for South Korea’s friendly against Uruguay at Seoul World Cup Stadium in Seoul on Oct. 12 were all sold as of 4:50 p.m. The KFA added that 2,300 tickets at KEB Hana Bank were all bought just 20 minutes after sales began, while the rest of the tickets were all sold online less than three hours after ticket sales opened.
The KFA said 25,486 tickets for the friendly match against Panama at Cheonan Stadium in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, on Oct. 16 were all sold as of 5 p.m.
This is first time in 15 years that tickets for the men’s national team matches have sold out on the first day of sales, following a sellout of all tickets for an April 16, 2003 friendly match against Japan.
With the latest ticket sales, South Korea will play in front of sell-out crowd in four straight matches since Paulo Bento took over the coaching job in August. Tickets for South Korea’s friendly matches against Costa Rica and Chile also sold out last month.
The KFA said tickets that are canceled online or ordered for refunds by purchasers will be only available for on-site sale on the match day.
