TIFF invites three South Korean films
Three South Korean films — Director Ryu Seung-wan’s “Veteran,” Kwon Oh-kwang’s “Collective Invention” and Hong Sang-soo’s “Right Now, Wrong Then” — have been added to the lineup of the 40th Toronto International Film Festival, which will run Sept. 10 to 20.
“Veteran” and “Collective Invention” are in the festival’s vanguard selection, and “Right Now, Wrong Then” in masters.
“Veteran,” starring Hwang Jung-min and Yoo Ah-in, tells the story of a young cop who goes after the heir of a conglomerate; “Collective Invention,” a satire with talents Lee Kwang-soo and Park Bo-young, follows the rise of a fish-man into celebrity; and “Right Now, Wrong Then,” an art-house pick, paints a love story between a filmmaker and a painter.
