Top Korean ballad group SG Wannabe coming back after four years

Vocal group SG Wannabe, which dominated South Korea’s music charts in the early 2000s with soulful ballads, announced their first comeback in four years Wednesday, Yonhap reported.

The trio has collaborated with songwriter Cho Young-soo and will drop its eighth studio album, “THE VOICE,” on August 19, agency CJ E&M said.

“During the four years we were apart, the members kept our friendship and supported one another. To me, SG Wannabe was a place to which I had to come back,” member Kim Yong-joon said in a teaser uploaded to the group’s official Facebook page. “As leader, I’ve waited long to come back as SG Wannabe.”

The group will kick off a nationwide tour in October.

SG Wannabe went on hiatus following the death of Chae Dong-ha, a former member, in 2011.

Their hit songs include “As I Live,” “Timeless,” “Crime and Punishment” and “My Person.”
