TV emcee Kim Gura gets divorced
South Korea’s popular television personality Kim Gura said Tuesday that he and his wife of 18 years have finally decided to go their separate ways.
The 46-year-old talk show host said that they tried to work out their differences, but came to the conclusion that they need to end their marriage to concentrate on being better parents to their only son, Kim Dong-hyun.
Kim had been struggling to pay off debts totaling some 1.8 billion won ($1.63 million), which were accrued by his wife. He briefly stopped making television appearances in December after being diagnosed with a panic disorder, but he has resumed appearing on various programs including MBC talk show “Radio Star” and tvN’s “Home Cooked Meal.”
Kim said he’ll assume all responsibility for all of his wife’s debts, and his son will live with him until he becomes an adult.
