TWICE ranks 15th on favorite singers list in Japan
SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Yonhap) — South Korean girl band TWICE landed in 15th place on the list of favorite singers compiled by Oricon, Japan’s music chart said Monday.
The chart conducted a survey on 20,000 Japanese respondents from Oct. 29 to Nov. 15. Japanese boy band Arashi topped the chart while female singer Namie Amuro and girl band Nogizaka46 came second and third, respectively.
TWICE is the only Korean artist who made the list of the top 50. Among the female artists on the list, TWICE ranked 9th, while it was sixth among artists favored by teenaged respondents.
The group has gained wide popularity in Japan over the years. It appeared on the popular Japanese year-end music show “Music Station Super Live 2018″ on Friday, and is scheduled to appear on Japanese national broadcaster NHK’s “Kohaku Uta Gassen,” the most popular year-end music program in the country, for the second year in a row on Dec. 31.
It will hold a Japanese dome tour next spring — performing at Osaka Kyocera Dome on March 21, Tokyo Dome from March 29-30 and Nagoya Dome on April 6.
