University of Illinois student dies after fall from parking garage roof
By The Korea Times Chicago staff
The fatal fall of a student from a parking garage roof Saturday has shocked the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus.
The student, identified as Jae Seo, 23, was pronounced dead by University of Illinois police Saturday morning after they received a report that a man had been found unconscious beneath an on-campus garage.
He died from “multiple blunt force injuries as a result from a fall or jump,” the Champaign County Coroner’s Office told The News-Gazette.
UI police told the Korea Times Thursday that the case is still under investigation and that details cannot be disclosed at this time.
UI police said they have not ruled out suicide or accident as the cause of death.
Seo’s belongings were found at the top of the parking garage.
Seo was attending his fourth year at the school.
According to sources, Seo was a devout Christian who participated in brief missionary work. Seo’s family will hold his funeral inside their local church next Thursday.
