Water main at Highland/Santa Monica Boulevard breaks again
October 28, 2014
LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Santa Monica Boulevard was closed at Highland Avenue in Hollywood today while a twice-broken water main was fixed and the intersection repaved.
A 6-inch water main ruptured about 4 p.m. Monday, digging a hole in the intersection, closing the crossroads and flooding the immediate area.
After replacing a broken section, the line was repressurized and broke in another spot, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said.
DWP spokeswoman Jan Galbraith said a six-foot section was being replaced. It was unclear when the intersection would reopen.
