Who are Korea’s picks for best male and female film characters?
It seems Won Bin’s Cha Tae-sik in “Man From Nowhere” and Kim Hye-soo’s Madam Jeong in “Tazza” had a lasting impact on moviegoers — the two were chosen in a poll as the best South Korean movie characters of all time, Yonhap reported.
An online poll conducted by CJ Entertainment in celebration of its 20-year anniversary asked netizens: “Who are the best male/female characters?”
Cha Tae-sik — a deadly former special agent who is overtaken by vengeance after an unlikely young friend is taken from him — drew in 31.4 percent of responses, with 8,216 votes.
He was trailed by Cho Tae-oh (played by Yoo Ah-in in “Veteran”) and Werewolf Boy (Song Joong-ki, “Werewolf Boy.”)
Similarly, the mysterious, sensuous Madam Jeong, who operates an illegal gambling spot, received 35.5 percent of all votes for female characters.
She was followed by Oh Doo-ri (Shim Eun-kyung, “Miss Granny”) and Geum-ja (Lee Young-ae, “Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.”)
Netizens’ pick for best couple was a close race between three pairs: “Werewolf Boy” (Song Joong-ki, Park Bo-young), “A Moment to Remember” (Jung Woo-sung, Son Ye-jin) and “You Are My Sunshine” (Hwang Jung-min, Jeon Do-yeon).
The best scene stealer pick went to Kim Yoon-seok’s Agui in “Tazza,” and the best cameo to Kim Soo-hyun in “Miss Granny.”
