Dami Im, the winner of “X Factor Australia 2013,”performed on Australia’s National Day, Sunday, at Blues Point, Sydney, along with Jessica Mauboy, the dance group Justice Crew and another audition star and runner-up Taylor Henderson.

Im’s win last year in the audition program was a surprise as she was eliminated during the boot camp for forgetting the lyrics of a song. But she came back when another contestant dropped out. Her rendition of “Alive” the song that she sang to grab the win topped the online iTunes chart in Australia. Her album featuring a collection of her best songs from the television audition show ranked third on the ARIA chart as of the end of 2013.

In addition to releasing an album, Im met with fans by touring major cities in Australia, including Newcastle and Perth from Nov. 23 to Dec. 2.

Im was born in Seoul, but emigrated to Australia at the age of 9. She majored in jazz vocals at Griffith University and was active as a contemporary Christian musician in both South Korea and Australia, before she became the first Asian-Australian to win the ‘X Factor’ contest.

She currently lives in Brisbane with her husband, Kim Do-yeon, whom she married in 2012.
