Yangpa, Na Yoon-kwon to perform at DC independence event
By The Korea Times Washington DC staff
South Korean vocalists Yangpa and Na Yoon-kwon arrived in Washington, D.C., Thursday two days before a planned performance at an event celebrating the 70th anniversary of Korean independence and in support of Korean reunification.
The event, organized by One Korea Coalition, will unfold at Lincoln Memorial at 3 p.m. Saturday and see Yangpa and Na sing a duet by composer Kim Hyung-seok, “One Dream One Korea.”
The original song features about 40 singers, among them Yangpa and Na, Yoon-ha, Sistar, BTS, Girls’ Day and AOA.
Kim will conduct a choir at the event with members from WA-KIMWA, a local Korean women’s association, as well as local churches.
“I was moved by the fact that people overseas were putting on an event with a theme on reunification,” Yangpa said. “I hope people of all ages come out to see the event.”
Yangpa is expected to sing “Young Love” and “Beautiful Land,” and Na “If It was Me” and “Because of Love.”
