Yankees call up Korean American 2B Rob Refsnyder

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi confirmed after the game Friday night that second baseman Rob Refsnyder will be called up and play on Saturday and Sunday against the Boston Red Sox.

The 24-year-old Refsnyder is a Korean-born adoptee whose Korean name is Kim Jung-tae.  He attended University of Arizona after graduating from Laguna Hills High School in Southern California.

Refsnyder was selected by the Yankees in the fifth round of 2012 draft and has always hit well (0.342 in AA, and 0.298 in AAA), but the Yankees have waiting for his defense to improve.

He has hit as many as 14 home runs and stolen 23 bases a year in the minor leagues.
