Yankees’ Refsnyder launches first MLB homer over ‘Green Monster’
July 13, 2015
By Brian Han
New York Yankees second baseman Robert Refsnyder made a convincing case for his offensive capabilities after going 2-for-4 in an 8-6 win against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
His performance included a two-run home run to cap off his debut weekend in the majors.
The 24-year-old hit a rocket over Fenway Park’s historic “Green Monster” in the top of the ninth to extend his team’s lead to four-runs before Manager Joe Girardi handed over the reigns to one of the league’s most dominant closers, Andrew Miller.
As it turned out, Refsnyder’s first ever major league home run ball found its way into the hands of Yankees fans who then returned it back to the rookie second baseman after the game.
