Korean broadcasting university to set up Hallyu Global Education Center in LA

A Korean broadcasting university is reaching to bring the Korean wave to new heights with the creation of a Hallyu Global Education Center in Los Angeles.

Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts said it hopes to bring its students, who are learning the ins and outs of production and media in broadcasting, to Los Angeles and other parts of the U.S. in light of the rise of Hallyu.

The program would bring teaching staff and students to the city to produce content fit for local media and invite locals to have a hand in K-pop, K-drama and cultural content creation, President Kim Joon-won told the Korea Times Sunday.

The institute currently has 45 students carrying out internships across the Los Angeles region.

“In the future, our students need to go out into the world to develop more skills and get hands-on experience. We want to join hands with the Korean American community to create a Hallyu culture program,” Kim said.
