Kim Min-ji, news presenter and show host, has decided to leave SBS television ahead of her marriage with Park Ji-sung, the Korean footballer now playing for Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, according to a local news report. Kim’s representatives didn’t respond to several attempts for a comment.

Kim, 28, graduated from Ewha Womans University and joined SBS as an announcer in 2010. She has emceed several sports shows for the broadcaster, including ”Football Magazine Goal!’’ SBS colleague Bae Sung-jae introduced her to Park’s father who, in turn, set up a blind date for them.

Park, 32, has arguably been the country’s most productive footballer of the past two decades, shining for Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United club. He also appeared for Korea in the past three World Cups and scored in each of them, cementing his status as a big-game player. However, he has rejected calls to join the Korean team for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil.

Kim and Park, who announced their relationship last year, have scheduled their marriage for July. According to Sports Dong-A, Kim will work for SBS until March 7.

“It was a hard decision for Kim, who also had an option to take a leave of absence. However, she ultimately decided to leave the company entirely,” said the report.

Park was forced to announce his relationship with Kim in front of the national media in June last year after local tabloids published photos of the couple dating near the Han River and other locations.

“She is my ideal type. No matter what people say, she is the most lovable person to me,” Park then said. “At first, we were just friends. But I started falling for Kim as I realized that she is a very understanding person.”
