Luc Besson to visit S. Korea

SEOUL, Aug. 3 (Yonhap) — French director Luc Besson, best known for “Leon: The Professional” (1994), will visit South Korea later this month to promote his latest film “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets,” a local distributor of the film said Thursday.

This would be his fourth visit to South Korea. The filmmaker previously visited the country in 1997 for the sci-fi action adventure “The Fifth Element,” in 2011 for “The Lady” and 2014 for “Lucy.”

Set in the 28th century, “Valerian” tells the story of two special operatives Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) set to safeguard the metropolis Alpha from a new menace.

During the latest visit on Aug. 22, the director will appear in JTBC’s variety show “Abnormal Summit” and hold a press conference for the Korean press.

The movie is set to open in South Korea on Aug. 30.
